On entry to VFA High School, students may be placed into one of the following programs. It is possible for students to progress to the next level of study during the school year.
Academic Preparation Program-Levels A,B,C,D
The aim of this program is to teach English as a Second Language students English language skills in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. Other important skills, such as research, critical thinking and presentation ability are also stressed.
E.S.L. Prep, Social Studies, Science, Math Classes
These classes are included in the Academic Preparation Program. Students are introduced to subject related material and vocabulary in order to prepare them for success in the regular credit program. Modified textbooks may be used.
Regular Credit Courses: Grades 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
Students will be placed in these classes based on progress, English ability, age and previous school records. Regular courses meet course learning outcomes as set by the British Columbia Ministry of Education.
